Job Summary:

 

  • Our client is looking for a Tax Manager who is responsible for the successful delivery of tax and accounting services to clients while managing a team of Staff Accountants, Senior Accountants, and Supervisors. Managers have direct responsibility for developing and maintaining quality relationships with the firm’s clients. Managers actively participate in opportunities to build the firm’s client base. Managers work closely with partners to increase efficiencies, develop and train the firm’s staff, and improve earnings. Managers are actively involved in managing performance and assisting others in their career development. A Manager must be a self-starter and take full ownership of projects. In addition, Managers will have the opportunity to play a key role in suggesting and working on initiatives to ensure that our client continues to have a thriving firm with a vibrant and inclusive culture. Candidates will utilize and build their technical and personal skills in a collaborative working environment.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in accounting, tax, or a related field.
  • Candidate must hold a valid and current CPA license. An EA license is acceptable but candidates should note that career progression beyond Manager is not an option without a CPA license.
  • Candidate should have completed or be working toward a Master’s Degree in Taxation, or equivalent.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience with a public accounting firm.

 

Job Details

 

  • Candidates must demonstrate experience with reviewing complex work from others for corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax returns. Candidates must also demonstrate experience providing review points and developing staff in technical expertise. Candidates must have experience managing client deliverables including tax returns, extensions, estimates, tax planning, and other services for all client types.
  • Candidate should have experience with multi-state taxation, real estate, and high net worth/complex individuals. Audit experience is highly desirable but not a requirement.
  • Candidate must demonstrate mastery in researching tax legislation/standards and helping others understand the impact on compliance and planning. Candidate must also demonstrate the ability to effectively explain complex tax matters to others.
  • Engagement Management and Budgets
  • Candidate must be able to create and manage engagement budgets, demonstrate ownership of engagement economics, and perform client billing.
  • Candidate must be able to effectively manage multiple tax and audit engagements, including the scheduling, staffing, supervision and timely completion of each engagement. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to delegate work to others appropriately.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to take full responsibility for client engagements from initial planning to client delivery, including managing client communication effectively.
  • Candidate should be proficient with generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to take ownership of client relationships and to become the client’s primary contact. Candidate must be able to identify potential projects and value-added services for clients. In addition, candidate must be able to participate in networking and other business development opportunities to develop new clients and build service partner relationships.
  • Candidate must demonstrate experience developing staff through training, mentoring and coaching, and active involvement in recruiting and interviewing.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Lacerte and/or ProSystems FX and should have a high degree of skill with standard software such as Adobe, Excel, Word, Outlook, research tools, etc.

 

Additional Notes

 

  • Salary is negotiable between $120,000 and $150,000 a year
  • In addition, we offer two pools of potential additional compensation that can be earned for achieving annual charged hour goals (CHIP Program) and performance development goals (PMP Program). The CHIP program pool range is between $9,000 and $15,000 and the PMP Pool range is between $6,000 and $10,000. These pools would be prorated the first year.
