PURCHASING MANAGER

Fast growing manufacturing company located in Troutman, NC is seeking an experienced, hands-on Purchasing Manager to join our team.

Primary duties will be to source materials, considering lead times, cost, quality, supplier strength and other factors as applicable. Lead and develop the purchasing team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Vendor / Supplier Management to include o Develop supplier selection criteria o Maintain favorable and productive relationships o Research and evaluate alternative suppliers to minimize supply chain risk o Negotiate pricing and payment terms o Manage on-time delivery of parts and material o Monitor and analyze Supplier capacity and quality

  • Manage and develop Purchasing Team o Ensure order accuracy and updating of costs in ERP o Standardize the purchasing process o Develop and implement best practices and metrics

  • Other responsibilities o Develop and maintain proper economic order quantities o Work closely with production and shipping/receiving teams to ensure parts are delivered as needed and correctly o Design, implement, and track supplier metrics. o Initiate cost reduction and payment term initiatives

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management, CPM, CPSM or APICS preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years procurement experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive supplier management experience required
  • Working knowledge and practical experience with MRP systems
  • Experience in vendor negotiations
  • Strong analytical skills and data capabilities required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, written and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Hands on work ethic
  • Must understand applicable manufacturing processes and capabilities, materials, applications and industry trends
