Job Summary:

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions

Job Overview:

  • Troubleshoot and repair various food production and packaging equipment.
    • Repair and replace mechanical components and assemblies, chains and belts
    • Diagnose and repair electrical issues, from control power (transformers, power supplies, contactors, relays, motor starters and overloads) to 480V distribution and motors
    • Diagnose and repair pneumatic issues including loss of system pressures, cylinder actuation, valve leaks or malfunctions.
    • Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams
    • Align and balance new equipment after installations
  • Record maintenance and repair work performed on company work order forms.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment
    • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance technicians to diagnose the problem or repair the machine
    • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Adheres to all plant cGMP and QC policies.

Education and Experience:

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • 3-5 years of industrial maintenance technician experience.
  • Excellent troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience within PLC’s and Ammonia Refrigeration preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
